2018 WEJF Distinguished Service Award Recipient
Mary Jo Nyenhuis wants to live in a world where she can say yes to every caller looking for legal services and where the Brewers win the pennant! While she can’t control all of her favorite Wisconsin sports teams, she has been doing her best for the past 35 years to help Wisconsin Judicare run like a well-oiled machine and say yes to as many people as possible!
Mary Jo is the behind the scenes puppet master making sure that the Board of Directors not only has up-to-date information on everything on the agenda, but that they also have coffee and Wi-Fi. Day to day in the office she can be found assisting the Executive Director with grants, the Pro Bono Director with client letters and closing out staff cases. She may also be found knee deep in copy room toner, empty boxes from the office supply company or rearranging the ever changing and growing office space for more attorneys, interns or case files.
That’s the thing about Mary Jo, there isn’t much that hasn’t been in her job duties for the past 35 plus years and she does it all with a smile on her face because she wants to support the mission of Wisconsin Judicare, a place she believes in.
Mary Jo and her husband, Tim, were high school sweethearts from Oostburg, WI and live in Weston with their dog, Scout. Together they have raised two wonderful children, Hope and Ryan. They love to take trips to Seattle to visit Hope and her husband, Michael, and they are very excited that their son, Ryan, has just moved closer to home starting a new job in Minneapolis this year.
